Mob beat up a man to death suspecting him to be a robber at Loskordi village under Araihazar upazila in the district on Thursday early hours. The deceased was identified as Jewel, 38, son of Alauddin, resident of Loskordi village of the upazila.
Office-in-Charge of Arihazar Police Station Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter. Sub-Inspector Asadur Rahman said that that a robbery gang stormed into Kader Mia's house at the village around 1:30am on Thursday. Hearing the incidents, villagers made an announcement from the local mosque to nag the robbers.
Locals then to the spot and caught one of the robber suspect before beating him to death while other gang members escaped. Police sent the body to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy. The deceased was wanted in twp case on rape and attempt to murder charges, said OC Nazrul.
