Construction work of one road in each of the 18 new wards of DNCC will start from November 20.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam made the comment while addressing the inaugural function of Kamarpara Graveyard Road at Kamarpara School and College ground in capital’s Uttara on Thursday afternoon.
He said, “Keeping the convenience of the people in mind, one road has been selected for development in each of the 18 new wards of the DNCC and the Bangladesh Army has been given the responsibility to construct the selected roads.”
Mayor Atiqul Islam said that the construction work of the road from Kamarpara Graveyard Road (Midland Bank to Talukpara Junction to Kamarpara Graveyard and Bamnartech Main Road and from Razzak Member's house to Star School) has been completed from DNCC's own funding at a cost of Tk. 59,017,183 taka in ward no. 54.
“With the sincere cooperation of the local people, the width of the 1.46 km long road has been increased from 12 feet to 20 feet for everyone’s benefit. In the past, the condition of this road was very fragile and people’s movement was difficult, however, now everyone including the local people will enjoy the benefits of this road,” said the mayor.
The DNCC mayor further informed that the construction work of the 4-lane road from Kamarpara Bazar to Sarkarbari will start next month.
He issued a stern warning against illegal occupants of rivers, canals, and ponds, stating that no valid notice would be issued for illegal occupants from the DNCC and they would be evicted without any notice.
The DNCC Mayor inaugurated Kamarpara Cemetery Road after his keynote address as the Chief Guest.
Dhaka-18 member of the parliament Mohammad Habib Hasan and local councilor Jahangir Hossain were present during the inauguration among others.
