Two people have been killed in a road accident at Ishwardi in Pabna. Three people were injured. The accident took place at around 8 am on Thursday at Chand Ali intersection of Lalon Shah Bridge link road in Pakshi Padmanadi.
The deceased has been identified as Mehedi Hasan, 20, son of Sujan Ali of Charmirkamari village under Salimpur union of Ishwardi upazila.
Apu Kumar, inspector of Ishwardi Fire Service and Civil Defense, said a motorcyclist fell off the road at around 8 am on Thursday when he was trying to overtake a truck laden with watermelons at Chand Ali intersection on his way to Ishwardi Dashuria via Lalon Shah Bridge from Kushtia. The motorcyclist Mehedi Hasan was knocked unconscious due to severe injuries. The truck lost control and collided with a tree on the side of the road, leaving the truck's helper unconscious. When they were later rescued and brought to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctor declared them both dead. Three more people were injured in the accident. They have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Pakshi Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Ashish Kumar Sanyal said they went to the spot after receiving the news. Two people died in the accident. One person was not identified. Three people were injured. The truck was seized. However, the driver of the truck escaped. A case will be filed in this regard.
