Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Aleksandr Mantytsky has said the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP), a megaproject of the State Corporation Rosatom, will strengthen Russia Bangladesh relationship further.
Russian Ambassador spoke to Bangladesh Post on Thursday during the Graduation Ceremony of RNPP that was held at the plant site in Ishwardi of Pabna.
“Russia and Bangladesh have been maintaining "close friendship and cooperation" since 1971, when the then USSR whole-heartedly supported the Liberation War”, he said.
The Russian ambassador also said his country remains committed to ensuring their support to Bangladesh in every sector including this one. He expressed his hope that he bonds of sincere friendship between Russia and Bangladesh and their people will keep on thriving in the years ahead.
Bangladesh has stepped in the nuclear club through receiving the main fuel of the plant uranium and certificate of fuel delivery and model of the fuel assembly from Russia.

Model of Nuclear Fuel to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a function at its site as Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Russian President Vladimir Putin virtually joined it.
The model of the fuel assembly was handed over to Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman by ROSATOM Director General Alexy Likhachev at the ceremony in RNPP site, Ishwardi, Pabna.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the ceremony.
