A garment worker has died after four of his co-workers pumped air into his body through the rectum in Manikganj.
The deceased was identified as Md Julhas, 39, a worker at Akij Textile Mill in Manikganj Sadar upazila. He breathed his last at about 4:00 pm on Thursday while being treated at Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital in Dhaka.
Bhaskar Saha, additional superintendent of police of Manikganj Sadar circle, confirmed the matter to the media.
On the night of Wednesday, four of Julhas's co-workers pumped air inside his body with a compressor used in the factory while they were working.
As Julhas fell ill, he was rushed to Manikganj Sadar Hospital from where he was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The victim's family members took him to Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital where he succumbed yesterday afternoon, the police official said. The body was kept at Manikganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
The victim's wife Julekha Begum filed a case with Manikganj Police Station against four of Julhas's co-workers. Police has already arrested the four accused, said the ASP.
