Bangladeshi leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has been selected by the Hobart Hurricanes for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League (BBL).
The franchise announced the news on their official social media channels, stating: "The Bangladeshi Tiger has joined the Hurricanes! Welcome to Rishad Hossain, an exciting young leg-spinner who will take BBL|14 by storm!"
Rishad will be only the second Bangladeshi player to participate in the BBL, following Shakib Al Hasan, who played for the Adelaide Strikers in 2014 and the Melbourne Renegades the following year.
The 14th edition of the Australian franchise T20 tournament is scheduled to take place from 15 December this year to 27 January next year.
Despite reaching the final twice, the Hobart Hurricanes have never won the BBL title. Rishad rose to prominence with his outstanding performance in this year's T20 World Cup, where he took 14 wickets. He was one of ten Bangladeshi cricketers – nine male and one female – who entered the draft, which took place on Sunday.
