Director Amitabh Reza Chowdhury’s film titled 'Rickshaw Girl' has won the SLM Top Award 2021 at the 26th Schlingel International Film Festival held in Germany.
Since 1996, Schlingel International Film Festival has been nominated in various categories by selecting films made for children and teenagers. Kemnitz is bringing a large number of films from around the world. The films have been divided into different competitive categories.
This time 77 feature films and more than 116 short films compete against each other in different categories. Out of the nominated films titled 'Rickshaw Girl' won the highest award in the international full-length film category selected by the professional jury.
The news was confirmed by the executive producer of the film Md Asaduzzaman Shokaal.
Regarding the context he said, "It's really good news for us". The film 'Rickshaw Girl' won the highest award in the international full-length film category selected by a professional jury from among the films nominated at the Schlingel International Film Festival. The film titled 'Rickshaw Girl' is based on the acclaimed middle-grade novel by Mitali Perkins, directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury has made the film for the big screen.
The film co-produced by Bangladesh and the United States, stars young Bangladeshi actor Novera Rahman in the role of Naima. Momena Chowdhury has played the role of Naima's mother. Produced by an award-winning screenwriter, producer, and author Eric J. Adams.
The film also stars Champa, Naresh Bhuiyan, Allen Shubhro and others
Meanwhile, 'Rickshaw Girl' was screened at this year's Mill Valley Film Festival in North America. Amitabh Reza went to the United States on a seven-day whirlwind tour with 'Rickshaw Girl’ cast. Last Friday morning he returned to Dhaka.
