A delegation from the Retired Officials Welfare Association of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) met with UGC Chairman Professor SMA Faiz at his office yesterday. The association, which represents retired UGC officials, congratulated Professor Faiz on his new appointment and expressed optimism about his leadership.

The delegation included several prominent retired UGC officials, such as former directors Shamsul Kabir Khan, Md. Shah Alam, and Md. Abdul Wahab, along with the association's president Mohammad Mofakker and general secretary Krishna Chakraborty. In a press release, the association conveyed their well-wishes to Professor Faiz and shared their belief that his tenure would enhance the UGC's reputation.

During the meeting, the retired officials raised a key issue concerning the association's operational needs. They formally requested an office space within the UGC building to allow the association to operate more effectively. According to the delegation, having a dedicated space would facilitate better coordination among retired officials and enable them to support UGC initiatives more directly.

The association also highlighted its commitment to contributing to UGC's future endeavors by sharing their experience and insights accumulated over years of service. They expressed a desire to stay actively involved in educational initiatives and policy discussions led by UGC.

Professor Faiz, welcoming the delegates, expressed his appreciation for their longstanding contributions to the commission. He assured them that UGC remains dedicated to improving the conditions for both current and former staff and took note of their request for office space. This visit underscores a collaborative spirit between the UGC and its former officials, signaling an openness to continued dialogue and support for institutional development.
