The retail fertiliser dealers in Gurudaspur upazila of Natore held a press conference on Monday as they did not get the allocated 50 percent fertiliser and commission according to the government regulations.
The press conference was held at a hotel in Chachkoir Bazar at 11:00am in the day. The complained against the fertiliser dealers of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).
Shariful Islam, president of Retail Fertiliser Dealer Committee, along with other leaders of the committee including Sayem Sarkar and Atikur, complained that they are not getting the allocated fertiliser and commission from August. Moreover, show cause letter was issued to 25 retail dealers.
The retail dealers complained that the fertiliser dealers of BCIC are not giving them the allocated fertiliser properly. Their business is being hindered due to that. They cannot deliver the fertilisers to farmers on time and it is affecting the agriculture sector as well.
Regarding the matter, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Harunor Rashid said there are 10 BCIC fertiliser dealers. However, no one was specifically mentioned in the complaint. As a result, it is not being possible to take necessary action against them.
Meanwhile, president BCIC Fertiliser Dealer Organisation Abdus Sobhan Mondol said we have been providing allocated fertilisers and commissions to retail dealers according to the rules. The allegations are completely baseless.
Gurudaspur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Salma Akter said two consecutive meetings were organized on this matter. However, only 2 out of the retail dealers attended, while the others were absent. Additionally, it was not specified did not provide the allocated fertilisers. Necessary actions will be taken promptly based on the investigation.
