Bringing discipline in the country's financial and business sectors will be a major challenge for the interim government or new administration, said economists and business leaders.

They also said mismanagement, corruption and lack of good governance have caused a deep crisis in the country's banking and financial sectors which needs to be resolved on a priority basis.

In an instant reaction over the change of Hasina regime, Executive Director of Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Dr. Fahmida Khatun told Bangladesh Post, “Recent protest of students against quota was simply a reflection of overall socio-economic disparity that has been continuing for long years.”

"The economic situation was influenced by political mismanagement. Although there was so-called growth, that was also not distributed equally. Lack of good governance impacted every spheres in the socio-economic activities,” she added.

Fahmida said the banking industry bears huge burden of defaulted loan. Wrong, weak and dictated policy of Bangladesh Bank had led the whole banking sector to the verge of collapse, so all of these need to be addressed first by the new regime.

Analysts also expressed hope that changes in the administrative and political situation will bring stability everywhere and ensure smooth functioning in the business and industrial sector.

They stated that it was really very essential to come out from the unrest and turbulent situation for getting rid of deadlock that was going on in the country since middle of last month and badly hampered the usual process of life and livelihoods including  production, supply chain, trading and export-import activities of the country.

Talking to Bangladesh Post, President of FBCCI Mahbubul Alam said it needed an end to the violence and anarchy in the country which badly impacted economic and financial sector. Now the new administration or interim government has to take measure in bringing discipline in law and order situation first so that all the trading activities, production, supply chain can be maintained smoothly.
