A two-day training programme started under Anticipatory Action Project of Jago Nari on district level to increase the capacity of resource pool in Patuakhali on Sunday.
Chief Executive of Jago Nari Hosne Ara Hasi presided over the inauguration ceremony of the training programme and gave the welcome speech. Additional District Commissioner (General) of Patuakhali Jadob Sarker attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Senior Fisheries Officer of Patuakhali Sadar Upazila Mahfuzur Rahman, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mostafizur Rahman, Save The Children International, project manager of Anticipatory Action Project Jabed Mindad, meteorologist Abdur Rahman Khan, Dean of Environmental Science and Disaster Management faculty of Patuakhali Science and Technology University Ahmed Parvez and others spoke at the programme.
Additional District Commissioner (General) Jadob Sarker said only one or two cyclone used to hit Patuakhali in a year earlier. However, a total of four cyclones hit the district last year. He also said private institutions have to work alongside the government as Patuakhali is a cyclone prone area.
