Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed has stated that the report published about Bangladesh Army personnel is one-sided and purposeful.
“We can effectively counter all these conspiracies through our patriotism, professionalism, and, most importantly, by the way we have been fulfilling our responsibilities in the United Nations”, he added.
General SM Safiuddin Ahmed made the remarks on Monday after the opening ceremony of the 12th annual general meeting and workshop of the Association of Asia-Pacific Peace Operations Training Centre, an international organisation related to training in peacekeeping operations in the Asia-Pacific region, held at Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operations Training (BIPSOT) in Rajendrapur Cantonment, Gazipur.
The Chief of Army Staff said, “We want to do our job correctly, and we wholeheartedly want to prove wrong those who are trying to act with dishonest motives.”
The main objective of this year’s AAPTC Annual General Meeting is to assess the dynamic nature of the global security environment, which has become extremely complex due to the development of technology and disproportionate risks.
The meeting outlines future actions and required training to address this changing security environment.
In his speech at the programme, the Army Chief portrayed the exemplary professionalism and success of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions and appreciated BIPSOT’s contribution to ensuring high-quality training of the peacekeepers.
He emphasised multilateral cooperation in establishing world peace.
