In the first 21 days of September, the country received $163.42 crore in remittance, averaging $7.78 crore per day, according to the latest report from Bangladesh Bank published on Sunday.
The report showed an increase in remittance inflow compared to the same period in August. During the same time last month, the country received $150.36 crore in remittance.
In the first three weeks of September, $48.7 crore in remittances was received through state-owned banks while $6.98 crore through specialised banks. Private commercial banks brought in $108 crore and foreign banks accounted for $40.30 lakh.
The report also said that between September 15 and 21, $46.70 crore was sent to Bangladesh. From September 8 to 14, the figure stood at $58.26 crore, while in the first week of September, expatriates sent remittance worth of $58.45 crore.
Earlier in June, the country saw a remittance inflow of $254 crore, followed by a drop to $191 crore in July, which marked the lowest inflow in the past 10 months.
After the interim government took office, remittance flows began to normalise. In August, the country witnessed a significant rebound, receiving $222.13 crore in remittance, the highest in the current fiscal year.
