Relocation of Sk Russel Children’s Training, Rehab Centre protested

People from various social, political and cultural organisations under the banner of 'Rajshahi Raskha Sangram Parishad' (RRSP) organised an hour-long human chain at the Zero Point of Shaheb Bazar Saturday morning in protest against the bid to shift Sheikh Russel Children's Training, Rehabilitation and distressed, vagabonds Training and Rehabilitation Centre from Rajshahi to Natore. 

Speakers at the human chain said the bid to shift the organisation from the divisional city of Rajshahi to the district town of Natore is a part of conspiracy. They warned that a greater movement will be launched if the process of shifting the organisation is not stopped immediately. 

Moreover, the speakers made a demand to make Rajshahi Shishu Hospital fully operational, mentioning that although the hospital was inaugurated 10 months ago, it has not been made operational. 

Speakers at the human chain called for an increase in number of seats at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and improve quality of services there. 

They also urged the authorities concerned to resolve the shortage of doctors and manpower in the hospital, to turn Rajshahi Dental Unit into a full-fledged hospital, to acquire the required land and construct the infrastructures of Rajshahi Medical University as soon as possible.

Presided over by Liakat Ali, President of RRSP, the human chain was addressed and attended, among others, by the General Secretary of RRSP Jamat Khan, Valiant Freedom Fighter Dr Abdul Mannan, Rajshahi City AL Joint Secretary Ahsanul Haque Pintu, General Secretary of city Workers Party Debashish Pranmanik Debu, Senior Journalist Mustafizur Rahman Khan Alam, Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon leader Afzal Hossain, City JSD Gen Secy Amirul Kabir Babu, Social worker Shahin Ali, Engineer Khaja Tarque, valiant Freedom fighter Abul Kalam Azad, dist AL leader Mahbubur Rahman Mukti, former President of Green Voice Abdur Rahim, BAPA Vice President Selina Begum, Rozina Begum, KM Zobaid Zitu and Lucky Begum.
