Bangladesh's Religious Affairs Adviser, AFM Khalid Hossain, has assured that the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and Puja poses no issues for the country's religious harmony.
Speaking before Friday Juma prayers at Hazrat Osman Jame Masjid in Halishahar, Chattogram, Hossain emphasised that all citizens have the right to freely practice and promote their religion.
"Bangladesh’s tradition of religious harmony allows for the peaceful observance of both Ramadan and Puja at the same time," he stated. However, he expressed concern over recent incidents of violence targeting Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian places of worship and homes during recent anti-government protests.
Religious Adviser also issued a stern warning to those seeking to disrupt communal harmony, stressing that planned propaganda by foreign media aims to damage the nation’s reputation. "The government is committed to taking strict action against anyone attempting to undermine our communal peace," he added, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to maintaining religious and social cohesion.
