Registration process for Class IX starts Nov 1

The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has announced that the registration process for Class IX students for the 2024-25 academic year will begin on November 1 and will continue until November 30. The entire registration process will take place online. Only students aged between 12 and 18 will be eligible for registration. Those under 12 or over 18 years of age will not be allowed to register.

This year, the total registration fee has been set at Tk 296, an increase from last year’s Tk 171. The new fees include Tk 80 for the registration itself, Tk 100 for the retirement and welfare trust fund for private teachers and employees, Tk 50 for sports, and other fees like Tk 25 for scouts and Tk 15 for the girls guide. Additional charges, including Tk 5 for science and technology, Tk 16 for the Red Crescent, and Tk 5 for the BNCC, are also included in the total.

Students will be divided into different groups—humanities, science, or business education—based on their Class VIII results. Parents will have discussions with their children to decide on the appropriate group, and students must submit a written application to their head teacher for registration in the chosen department.

The school will form a three-member committee to oversee the registration process, ensuring that all student information is correctly uploaded and submitted. Any mistakes in the registration will be the responsibility of the head of the institution. Late registration will be allowed with an additional fee of Tk 140, but it must be completed online by logging into the Dhaka Board website and paying through Sonali Seba.
