Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said the national, regional and global importance of Chattogram city will increase after the completion of mega project.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is implementing many mega projects for the development of Chattogram. Bay terminal, deep seaport, inland highway, rail communication, Karnafhuli tunnels are under construction in Chattogram city.
If these projects are completed, the national, regional and global importance of Chattogram city will increase. Chattogram will become the economic hub of South East Asia.
He said this while inspecting the construction work of roads, bridges and retaining walls adjacent to Maheshkhali in North Halishahar ward of the city on Tuesday morning.
The project is targeted to be completed by January 2022 with JICA funding at a cost of about Tk 17 crore. However, JICA contractor Nipa Enterprise was instructed to complete the work on the road without CC welding by October 21.

Engineer Miraj Kabiraj, politician Alhaj Nazimul Islam Majumder, Abed Munsur Chowdhury, Khorshedul Islam, Ashfaqul Alam Ashfaq, Akhtaruzzaman, Shahidul Alam Sumon was present at the time.
CCC mayor said work on many projects had to be halted due to heavy rains during the monsoon season. Now the rainy season is almost over so there is no chance to make any more excuses.
He called upon the concerned parties to complete all the development works expeditiously and alleviate the sufferings of the people.
