A young man who returned from Dhaka to his village home at Raninagar upazila in Naogaon from fever and cough was not allowed to enter into his house by the villagers on Saturday suspecting him to be attacked with Covid-19.
Even, when he went to take treatment at two upazila health complexes, at a sadar hospital, and at community clinic, he did not get proper treatment there. Also, some physicians at those hospitals did not agree to give him treatment. At last, he was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where he died soon after his admission on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Al-Amin, 22, son of Mokhlesur Rahman of Alongkerdighi village under Kaligram union of Raninagar upazila of Nagaon district. He was admitted around 3:00 pm on Saturday at RMCH where he died around 8:30 pm on the day.
Saiful Ferdous, Deputy Director o RMCH, said that the death of Al-Amin was not related to Covid-19 rather he died of Brain infection. Due to suffering from prolonged fever, Al-Amin develops an infection in brain and he died due to lack of proper treatment at due time.
Mokhlesur Rahman, father of Al-Amin, said that his son arrived at home in Raninagar of Naogoan from Dhaka with fever and cough on Saturday morning. But, the villagers suspecting him to be attacked with Coronavirus, did not allow him to enter his house. He then took his son to Adamdighi hospital in Bogura for treatment. But the hospital authorities suspecting him to be infected with coronavirus, did not treat him. He then took his son to a local community clinic where he was admitted but got no treatment.
Local people, however, informed local Upazila Nirbahi Officer about Al-Amin when with the help of upazila administration he was admitted to Raniangar hospital. But, the physicians at the hospital did not treat him and referred him to Naogaon sadar hospital. But, in Naogan sadar hospital he did not get any treatment and the hospital authorities referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he was admitted on Friday afternoon but died the same night without getting proper and timely treatment.
Civil Surgeon of Naogaon Dr AM Akhteruzzaman said that there having no kits to test Coronavirus in Naogaon sadar hospital, Al Amin was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died of brain infection which the doctors could not detect earlier.
