A total of 52 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in a single day. This is the highest number of infections recorded in a single day in Mymensingh district.
When samples of 254 people were tested in the PCR lab of Mymensingh Medical College on Thursday night, the results of 64 samples came positive.
The results of the second sample test of 12 of them also came positive. Civil Surgeon ABM Mosiul Alam thinks that the infection has suddenly increased due to people wandering around and shopping before Eid.
The Civil Surgeon's Office said 52 more coronaviruses were infected in one day, excluding those who tested positive in the second sample. The total number of infected people in Mymensingh is 457.
Civil Surgeon ABM Mosiul Alam said that out of the 52 newly identified people, 13 were infected with coronavirus in Bhaluka upazila, 12 in Dhobaura, 9 in Mymensingh Sadar, 6 in Phulpur, 2 in Gafargaon upazila and one each in Gauripur and Ishwarganj.
Besides, 8 health workers of Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital have been infected with coronavirus.
According to the Civil Surgeon and District Administration Office, 281 of the affected people in the district are in isolation and 167 have recovered.
Besides, three people have been shifted to Dhaka and six people have died. So far 5,660 samples have been tested in the district.
Regarding the rapid transmission of coronavirus, Civil Surgeon ABM Mosiul Alam said that the infection seems to have increased suddenly due to people wandering around unnecessarily and shopping for Eid.
He fears that if people are not aware, the infection will spread further and the consequences could be worse.
