Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has opened the activities of one more modern Secondary Transfer Station (STS) here on Thursday aiming at removing and managing the household wastes and garbage in a modern and hygienic manner.
Constructed at a cost of Taka 1.06 crore, the station was installed on the campus of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in order to meet up its demands.
RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by some of his councillors and office colleagues opened the station through a simple ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Liton said three other similar types of STSs were opened earlier and another is going to be opened at Rajshahi University within near future.
He asked all the officials and staffs concerned to render their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to make the effort of making the city neat and clean a total success. “I’m committed to build the city green, clean and eco-friendly within the shortest possible time as per demands of the city dwellers,” he said, adding that the officials and employees who will be adjudged as good workers will be appreciated and awarded to inspire others. He also sought whole-hearted cooperation of the city dwellers to supplement the city corporation’s efforts as without their support the cherished goal could not achieved.
Liton asks his staff to motivate the people against dumping household wastes besides the roads and other public places haphazardly.
