A new trust fund titled ‘Rastrabiggan Satirtha Forum (1976-1979) Trust Fund’ has been established at the Department of Political Science of Dhaka University (DU). Vice-Chancellor of DU Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman was present there as chief guest.
Professor Md Ferdous Hossain and Mr Khairuzzaman Hira handed over a cheque for Tk. 1.7 million to DU Treasurer Professor Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed on Monday at the Vice-Chancellor’s lounge to set up this trust fund. Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr Zia Rahman, Representatives from Rastrabiggan Satirtha Forum (1976-1979) Rokeya Hossain Ruby, Nayar Sultana Swapna, Md Mizanur Rahman and Registrar Prabir Kumar Sarker were present on this occasion.
Out of the income of this trust fund, every year some financially challenged students of the Department of Political Science will be given scholarship.
DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donors for setting up this trust fund. This fund will play an important role to make an inclusive society and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), he hoped. He called upon former students of the university to come forward with their helping hands for providing support to the financially challenged students following this initiative.
