A few weeks ago, mobile court of RAB shut down Dhaka Wanderers Club for running casino business illegally. According to locals, Word Councillor of Motijheel AKM Mominul Haque Sayeed and General Secretary of Bangladesh Hockey Federation as well as Senior Vice-president Abdur Rashid Shikder run this casino business.
However, in the last upazila election, Rashid Shikder was the opponent of boat symbol though he was the general secretary of Upazila Awami League.
Rashid Shikder was born in Maizgaon village of Bowltoli union under Louhajang Police Station in Munshiganj. Despite he was a born BNP supporters’ family, suddenly this person joined Awami League and took the post of the Joint General Secretary and the General Secretary of Upazila Awami League respectively.
It is learnt that, he became rich over night by doing sand business illegally from the Padma River. He has grabbed many plots of land of helpless people, poultry farm, pond and orchard. Seeking anonymity a person said that Rashid Shikder, in his union Bowltoli, had threatened to kill one person by holding the post of general secretary of a ward.
People are afraid of by the name of Rashid Shikder as he has several cases filed in the police station. In fact, Rashid Shikder's father was BNP leader, his brother is now a member of the central committee of the BNP and his uncle Malek Sikder, was former joint general secretary of the Louhajang Police Station, joined Awami League and joined as the Bowltoli union chairman. When our correspondent tried to contact him over cell phone, he cut off the phone, as he was busy.
