Rapid Action Battalion( RAB) on early Friday arrested a life term convicted rapist in connection with raping of a teen aged girl from the city.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Senior ASP Shihab Karim of RAB-2 confirmed it.
The arrested was identified as Md Shahin,30, son of Md Siddique, hailing from Bhola district.
The convicted was absconding for four years after his conviction.
According to the case statement, victim was living with her parent in city’s Adabar area. On October 29 in 2019, she went out from her room to attend the call of nature.
Shahin raped her forcibly.
On October 30 in 2019, a case was filed with Adabar Police Station in this connection. Shahin was arrested in the case and stayed 10 months in jail. Later he secured bail and went on hiding. At one stage, a Dhaka court sentenced him life term jail in his absence. RAB intensified surveillance and raided at Adabar area getting secret information.
A team of RAB-2 finally nabbed him from the area on early Friday.
We handed over him to the local police, said Senior ASP Shihab.
