For some unknown reason, no government of the past has ever shown interest in the development of North Bengal and changing the destiny of the people. Only the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thinks of the people of North Bengal and thinks of improving their happiness and quality of life. Famine is extinct in North Bengal today only because of Sheikh Hasina’s constant effort. This was stated by Juba League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash while addressing as the chief guest at the distribution of winter clothes among the helpless and destitute people at Banani Model School ground on Friday.
At that time blankets were handed over to the leaders of 9 district branches of Rangpur division for the cold-hit people of Rangpur region. Juba League distributed blankets among about 1000 helpless cold-hit people at Banani Model School ground.
Addressing the Juba League leaders and workers, he said that Sheikh Hasina, the eldest daughter of Bangabandhu, took over as the Prime Minister in 1996 and revived the spirit of humane Bangladesh by emphasizing economic development as well as public welfare programs. Recognized as one of the most honest, efficient and best prime ministers in the world, she has earned the titles of "Mother of Humanity", "Leadership of World Humanity", "Greatest Human Leader", "Champion of Humanity" and many more. Through her development theory and concerted efforts, beloved Bangladesh has also gained the recognition of a prosperous and humane state. One of the aims of the present Juba League is to lead the humanitarian movement of the state and to be sympathetic to the happiness and sorrows of the people by resisting the conspirators and counter-revolutionaries.
This trend must continue.
Addressing the people of Rangpur, he said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given status to Rangpur as the 8th administrative division in Bangladesh in 2010. Rangpur division with 6 districts and a total of 33 constituencies now rapidly being developed. Prime Minister has recently inaugurated the Rangpur Divisional Headquarters. The general public with disabilities are getting unique services at this divisional headquarters. The same goes for humanity. Though Rangpur division was once considered as a famine-hit region, the situation has changed drastically in the last 13 years. Rangpur Division is now a food-grain surplus area. The lack of this department has been overcome today as a result of the able leadership and direction of the Prime Minister. Syedpur Airport is being upgraded to an international airport and work on India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline is underway. All these works will play a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of Rangpur Division. Rangpur Division has got a unique look in the last 13 years. The people of Rangpur division have prospered in the triumph of development. In the 2008 election campaign, the people's leader Sheikh Hasina announced to take responsibility for the development of Rangpur. The once famine-stricken northern region is now a prosperous area. Now Rangpur has become a surplus food zone where once people would die for lack of food.
