Rangpur records no Covid-19 case for 2nd consecutive day

Rangpur division recorded no fresh Covid-19 case after testing 76 samples for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. Health officials said the Covid-19 pandemic situation continues improving during the last more than one month in the division. "The total number of Covid-19 cases remained steady at 64,121 here," Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam said.

The district-wise break up of total 64,121 patients include 14,958 of Rangpur, 4,418 of Panchagarh, 5,475 of Nilphamari, 3,281 of Lalmonirhat, 4,981 of Kurigram, 8,582 of Thakurgaon, 16,918 of Dinajpur and 5,508 of Gaibandha in the division.

Meanwhile, the total number of recovered Covid-19 patients rose to 62,733 as 59 more infected people healed during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am on Wednesday in the division.

The average recovery rate of Covid-19 patients currently stands at 97.84 percent, the highest ever average healing rate since the outbreak of the pandemic, in Rangpur division.

The 62,733 recovered patients include 14,656 of Rangpur, 4,325 of Panchagarh, 4,377 of Nilphamari, 3,201 of Lalmonirhat, 4,880 of Kurigram, 8,321 of

Thakurgaon, 16,535 of Dinajpur and 5,438 of Gaibandha districts in the division. Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 3,41,194 collected samples were tested till Tuesday, and of them, 64,121 were found positive with an average positivity rate of 18.79 percent.

On the other hand, the total number of casualties remained steady at 1,283 in the division as no new death was reported during the last 24 hours.  

The district-wise break up of the 1,283 fatalities stands at 300 in Rangpur, 84 in Panchagarh, 92 in Nilphamari, 74 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in Kurigram, 259 in Thakurgaon, 340 in Dinajpur and 65 in Gaibandha districts of the division. The average casualty rate remained at two percent in the division. Among total 64,121 Covid-19 patients, 20 are undergoing treatments, including four patients at ICU and six at High Dependency Unit beds, after recovery of 62,733 patients and 1,283 deaths while 85 are remaining in home isolation. "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccines rose to 1,33,59,586 and among them, 97,72,367 got the second dose and 6,62,801 got the booster dose of the jabs till Saturday in the division," Dr Islam said. espite the pandemic situation improving constantly, Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr Bimal Chandra Roy called upon people to abide by the health directives as the threat of the Covid-19 spread is not completely over.
