Rangpur Chemical Limited is Like a piece of Spain in the heart of Rangpur. Cosmetics and clinical materials of the well-known Asian brand 'YUSERA' are being manufactured in a ultramodern manner. All factory equipment is imported from Spain. There is also manpower trained by expert chemists in Spain.
Yusera Shampoo-Conditioner, Yusera Moisturizing Body Lotion, Yusera Bath Gel, Yusera Night Cream, Yusera Day Cream, Yusera Facewash and many other cosmetic ingredients and clinical ingredients are being made here by local workers in foreign machines.
These materials produced with raw materials imported from Spain will gradually reduce import dependence of our country. And this products can export abroad, besides earning foreign currency, Rangpur along with Bangladesh will earn reputation in abroad. Although the experimental production has already started, this private enterprise will go into commercial production this year. And it will provide employment to about four thousand workers.
Rangpur Chemical Limited is located at Baradarga Mokimpur in Pirganj on the Rangpur-Dhaka Highway. The industrial estate has been set up on a six-acre land adjacent to the highway. Although it was established in 2016, it took five years to import and install modern machinery from Spain, create skilled manpower through training, and import raw materials for the products. Finally, at the beginning of 2021, it is possible to go for experimental production in this potential company.
Mentioning that commercial production will start this year, the concerned sources said that the industrial establishment, which was set up at a cost of Tk 200 crore, will create employment opportunities for about four thousand workers.
Abdul Malek, general manager of the company, said that the dreamer of Rangpur Chemical Limited is Monwar Hossain Manu, a resident of Rangpur, a Spanish expatriate. His initiative is to introduce Rangpur in the heart of Asia. He was involved in various import-export business from Spain for about 30 years. Monwar Hossain Manu set up a cosmetic company in Spain with an idea from a chemical company of his friend. He set up this industrial organization called Rangpur Chemical Limited with the idea of creating new entrepreneurs including creating employment for the people of the north of the country. Mentioning that the raw materials for the products are imported from Spain, the general manager further said that engineers and chemists from Spain have come here to take care of everything as well as create skilled manpower through training. At present they are producing exportable cosmetics and clinical products Rangpur according to the quality of products produced in Spain.
Crossing the main gate and enter the factory of Rangpur Chemical Limited through the flower garden on both sides. Not only outside, but also inside there is a pleasant environment. People must also wear sterile clothing provided by the authorities to enter the factory subject to permission. Inside, a uniformed, skilled workforce was seen. They are doing different kinds of work on different machines with caution. Shampoo, body lotion, bath gel, cream, face wash are being filled in the tube, bottle or container with the help of machine. At the same time they are being packaged with cork-labeling through the machine. If people stay there for a while, it will seem that they are in a foreign factory, not Rangpur or Bangladesh. However, these foreign quality cosmetics are being made by skilled artisans with cheap labor in the north.
Nur Islam, Dayal Chandra and QC (Quality) Nayan Mohant, filling operators in the cosmetics sector of the factory, said, "We are proud to work at Rangpur Chemical Limited. Before that some used to work as a laborer in the field and some of them rickshaw pullers. Coming here, we are running our family with the income earned by working with dignity. Besides, We have got the opportunity to learn foreign skills.
There are two separate sectors inside the factory. One is the cosmetics sector, the other is the clinical materials manufacturing sector. At present, world class floor cleaners, grace removers, glass cleaners, liquid disinfectants, toilet cleaners and various types of liquid hand soaps are being manufactured here as clinical materials.
Supervisor Shamim Islam said different skilled manpower works in each sector. Among them are workers, filling operators, machine operators, QCs, engineers, supervisors, admins and chemists.
Attempts were made by the factory to contact Monwar Hossain Manu, a Spanish expatriate managing director of Rangpur Chemical Limited. He said in a video call that although the industry was set up on private initiative, but not for personal gain. The people of the country still have more confidence in foreign products than domestic ones. Therefore, in order to reduce the import dependence in the country and create new entrepreneurs, the raw material imported from abroad is being used in the factory keeping in line with the local products. Mentioning that there is scope for exporting these products outside the country, he said, "The company has been named 'Rangpur Chemical Limited' with the aim of introducing Rangpur abroad with of quality products." In addition, the factory will provide employment opportunities to the skilled workers of the backward region.
