The newly constructed Rangpur Central Bus Terminal with all modern facilities is now awaiting inauguration. Colour and boundary lighting work is going on. The unfinished works of the building are going on in full swing. If all goes well, the newly constructed Rangpur Central Bus Terminal at a cost of Taka 31 crore will be inaugurated next March. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will inaugurate the bus terminal.

According to the concerned sources, the project started at a cost of Tk 25 crore 81 lakh 77 thousand 330 with the funding of JICA and GoB but it is ending at around Tk 31 crore. Construction of the state-of-the-art Rangpur Central Bus Terminal started on 17 October 2018. The main building of the newly constructed 29,645 sq ft two-storey Rangpur Central Bus Terminal has workshops, driver and conductor refreshments and adequate parking facilities.

At the downstairs, there are 14 ticket counters, three ATM booths, women's prayer room, a day-care center, six food stalls, a drug store, two public toilets, passenger seating and a luggage area. The second floor of the building has a state-of-the-art dining hotel, a children's playroom, seven shops, state-of-the-art traffic department, control room, technical department, administrative department, state-of-the-art meeting room, a public toilet, VIP lounge and VIP room.

From Rangpur Central Bus Terminal, vehicles ply in almost all the districts of the country. The terminal is also known as the largest bus terminal in the north. Due to the proximity of the terminal to the highway, there were frequent traffic jams and accidents. The construction of the state-of-the-art bus terminal will reduce traffic congestion on the highway as well as increase the quality of passenger service. Bus driver Abdur Rahim said that earlier the Rangpur Central Bus Terminal was untidy and took up little space. Which has now increased its scope a lot. There is no chance of mud and water accumulation in the terminal area as there are no ditches besides solving the problem of parking cars.

Ticket Master Zilhaj Hossain said that before the bus ticket was issued, there was no place for passengers to stand. But since this is a modern terminal, you don't have to go through that misery anymore. A passenger going to Rajshahi from Rangpur said, Rangpur bus terminal looks very

beautiful.

There is no traffic jam at this terminal. Labor leader Titul said the present government has come to power and developed Rangpur extensively. Following this, the old Rangpur Central Bus Terminal has been demolished and a state-of-the-art bus terminal has been constructed on a large scale. This will increase the quality of service as well as ensure the safety of passengers.

In this regard, the Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa said that the initiative was taken to construct the Rangpur Central Bus Terminal to ensure all modern facilities keeping in mind the improvement of service quality by eliminating traffic congestion on the highway. It is now awaiting inauguration.

The eye-catching and state-of-the-art Rangpur Central Bus Terminal was scheduled to open in the middle of this month (February), but is currently not possible due to the Corona situation. Hopefully it will open next March. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has spoken to the MP and plans to inaugurate it in March.

He also sought the cooperation of motor owners, motor workers, administration and passengers to keep the modern bus terminal clean and tidy.
