Rangamati AL GS Musa Matabbar summoned by ACC

District Awami League General Secretary and member of Rangamati Hill District Council Md Musa Matabbar has recently been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). 

He was summoned due to allegations of acquiring huge amount of movable and immovable property beyond the known sources of income.

According to subsection 26 (1) of the ACC Act 2004, a circular signed by Deputy Director of Rangamati Integrated Office Md Zahid Kamal on Monday (June 24) asked for the submission of his wealth statement. The notice mentions submission of wealth statement within 21 working days from the issuance of the notification.

Md Zahid Kamal, deputy director of ACC at Rangamati District Integrated Office, said following the allegations of acquisition of large amount of wealth outside income, a notice for submission of wealth statement under the ACC Act has been issued against Musa Matabbar. According to the notice issued, he has to submit the statement of assets acquired in the name of himself, his wife and other family members to the ACC within the next 21 working days. If the statement of assets is not submitted within the stipulated time, a case will be filed against him under the ACC Act.

It was known that Musa Matabbar has served as the chairman of Rangamati Sadar Upazila Parishad for more than a decade, general secretary of district Awami League for two terms and member of Rangamati Zilla Parishad for two consecutive terms.

Md Musa Matabbar could not be contacted over phone for comment despite repeated attempts.
