Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) has conducted an eviction drive in Khilkhet area of the capital. This campaign is conducted against building owners who have constructed buildings outside of design.
The eviction work was started from Monday morning led by Rajuk Executive Magistrate Aminul Islam.
Executive Magistrate Aminul Islam said, "The mobile court has been operated in Zone 4/3 of Rajuk due to the construction of extraneous-design of buildings. Failure to obtain design approval from Rajuk is a serious offence. At the same time, this disruption increases the risk. Because Rajuk takes many things into consideration when approving a design.
“We observed during the expedition that the buildings constructed outside the design were disturbed in setbacks and voids’ he added.
At that time, some multi-storied buildings outside the design have been partially removed. Apart from this, a bond has been taken building owners to construct the building in accordance with Rajuk's approved design.
Authorized officer engineer Joton Debnath said, "Rajuk will construct the building in accordance with the approved design and creating obstacles to people's movement by leaving construction materials on the road.
If the building is not constructed according to the design, the residents may be in danger. Sufferings of common people will increase if the construction materials are kept on road, he said.
During the campaign, the locals said that many people do not build buildings according to the design for a small profit. Residents of lakhs of buildings in the capital do not even know that the balcony of their building is not in the design.
Rajuk Zone-4 director Saiful Islam, authorized officer engineer Joton Debnath, assistant authorized officer, chief building inspector and other officials of Rajuk were under the overall supervision of the mobile court.
