A Dinajpur court has granted a five-day remand to the newly-released Dinajpur District Sechchhasebok League President Abu Ibne Rajab before the end of his two-day remand, which was granted earlier.

Dinajpur Judicial Magistrate Moshammat Sharmin Akter granted him a five-day remand on Thursday following a seven-day police remand application.

He was taken on remand in the murder case of Chhatra Dal leader of Bochaganj. Earlier on Monday, the court granted him a two-day remand in connection with the murder of two students of Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology.

It is learned that, on June 11, the police arrested Abu Ibne Rajab, the president of the District Secha Sebok League, from his own Hotel Afia International in Bahadur Bazar area of Dinajpur city.

Meanwhile, leaders and activists of Sechchhasebok League and Chhatra League cordoned off Dinajpur Kotwali police station at 4:30 pm demanding release of the leader.

When the police tried to remove them, leaders and activists attacked the police. Later, the police dispersed them with batons. Police have filed a case against about 70 leaders and activists of Chhatra League and Swechchhasebak League in this incident.

According to the police, there are six cases against the arrested Rajab, including murder of two meritorious students of Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology and murder of Chhatra Dal leader in Bochaganj.

The leader was arrested on the instructions of the CID's central office. On June 15, the central parliament sacked him from the post of district Secha Sebok league president for criminal activities.
