The nor'wester of Wednesday morning accompanied by rain and gusty wind brought relief to the residents of Dhaka City from the heat wave that has been sweeping over the country for the last few days.
Due to the thundershower, water-logging created in different areas of the capital, although it started to decrease as the day advanced.
The water-logging caused by the heavy rain in the early hours forced the commuters to move through ankle-deep water.
Besides, trees were uprooted on various roads of the capital due to the storm and many roads were blocked following the collapse of trees on the roads during the nor’wester. Commuters, especially students and office-goers had to suffer a lot due to the traffic congestion created at some points in the city.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department for the next 24 hours from Wednesday morning, rain or thundershowers accompanied by intense lightning and temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Chattogram divisions.
The Meteorological Department further stated that the storm is expected to reach a maximum speed of 60 kmph in the next 24 hours over eight districts of the country. In this case the temperature might decrease by 1 to 2 degrees.
The weather may remain dry elsewhere across the country.
