Rail service from Dhaka to Faridpur's Bhanga via Padma Bridge will start in June this year, said Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan Tuesday.
"The work on the railway lines of Padma Bridge project is progressing fast and currently the overall progress of work is 73 percent," said the minister when he came to inspect the progress of Padma Bridge railway line project in Dogachi of Munshiganj's Srinagar upazila, said a press release.
He said construction of line from Dhaka to Mawa is now a big challenge.
The minister visited Maoa Rail Station and boarded a train used by construction workers from Jajira station to inspect the overall progress of the rail lines.
Project director Afzal Hossain said the construction work of the 182-km rail lines from Dhaka to Jashore is going on round-the-clock.
"We're hopeful about completing the work by June," he added.
