RAB seizes Tk 3.35cr opium in Chattogram

RAB-7 arrested a drug dealer named Kakan Mallik (36) along with 3 kg 350 grams of opium worth Tk 3 crore 35 lakh from Shikalbaha area under Karnaphuli police station.  RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director Md. Nurul Abshar gave this information on Monday afternoon.

 Kakan Mallick is the son of Montu Mallick of East Puichhari area of Banskhali police station.

 RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director Md. Nurul Abshar said that drug dealers are coming from Bandarban towards Chattogram along with opium and distilled liquor by passenger bus.

 Based on such secret information, Kakan Mallik was arrested from a passenger bus in Shikalbaha area under Karnaphuli police station around noon on Sunday.  During this time, 3.5 liters of liquor inside a white colored polythene and 3 kg 350 gm opium wrapped with red scotch tape in a cucumber in a plastic market bag were recovered.

 He said that Kakan Mallik has been buying opium and other drugs at wholesale market rates from Thanchi area of Bandarban district for a long time and later selling them at retail market rates to drug dealers and drug addicts in different parts of the country.  The estimated value of recovered drugs is Tk 3 crore 35 lakh.

 It has been handed over to the police station for further legal action.
