Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Joypurhat have arrested three traffickers with a touchstone statue of Ganesha from Borgachha village under Raninagar upazila of Naogaon district on Monday (December-14) night, informed a press release from RAB on Tuesday.
Arrested traffickers are- Rashid (35) son of Mohir Uddin of Bharna village of Raninagar, Omar Faruk (47) son of Nurul Haque of Sagarpara under Boalia of Rajshahi and Faruk Hossain(50) of Gopinathpur village under Durgapur police station.
According to the press release, acting on a tipp off, RAB conducted an operation at Borogachha village of Raninagar and arrested those three traffickers with a touchstone statue.
RAB also recovered 67 acid-nozzles to test the statues, four hand gloves, one mirror, four mobile sets, five SIM cards, one memory card and Taka 4,065 in cash form their possession.
RAB further mentioned, arrested statue traffickers informed, they collect various archaeological valuables from Naogaon, Joypurhat and Bogura district and trafficking those abroad from a long time.
A case has been filed with Raninagar police station against the traffickers and the recovered goods have been deposited to the police station.
