Rapid Action Battalion (RAB personnel of Jhenaidah camp had arrested a drug peddler with 1,499 grams of hemp on Friday.
The detainee was identified as Hatem Ali, 38, son of Ishaque Ali of Kushadanga Dakkhinpara of Moheshpur upazila. He was arrested from Shishutala area of the upazila, said the RAB sources.
RAB-6 sources said a patrol team of the elite force led by senior assistant superintendent of police Sohel Parvez conducted a drive at about 2:00pm at Jibannagar-Kaliganj road and arrested drug peddler Hatem Ali and seized the narcotics from his possession.
A case was filed with Moheshpur police station in this connection.
