RAB has arrested six people including the ringleader of three wheeler mugging group from Ramu in Cox's Bazar. Easy bikes and mobile phones used in the robbery were also recovered.
They were arrested from Sikder Para of South Mithachari Union of the upazila at on Tuesday.
The arrested are Md Arif (20), son of Jafar Alam of Sikdar Para, Md Sayed (21), son of Md Hasan, Shah Jahan (23) the main leader of mugging cycle, son of Hasan of Samiti Para, Fayez Alam Prakash Farid Alam, son of Shamsul Alam, Ansar Ullah(28), son of Nurul Islam and Rafiq Ullah(33) son of Asiur Rahman of South Pinnachia village in Ukhia.
According to the RAB, on the night of March 2, four youths rented an easy bike from Linkroad to go to Mariccha.
Along with them, two others got on the easy bike from Cheinda Bazaar. After crossing the Panerchhara Bazaar, they tied the driver Kamal to a tree on the side of the road and snatched the driver's mobile, money and easy bike and fled. The RAB arrested Arif on Wednesday morning after investigating the incident.
Later, according to the information given by him, four people including main leader of the mugging group were arrested. According to the information provided by them, the buyer of the snatched easy bike Rafiq Ullah was arrested. And the stolen easy bike was recovered from his residence.
The RAB has informed that there are several cases against the arrested accused Shah Jahan in Ramu police station.
A press release signed by RAB 15 Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Billal Uddin on Wednesday further said that a case has been filed against the detainees and handed over to Ramu Police Station.
