Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a youth named Sumon Mia (28) with 1 pipe gun and 2 rounds of cartridges in Bajitpur Upazila of Kishoreganj. The members of RAB-14 CPC-2 Kishoreganj camp arrested him from Duljan area of Ghazirchar union of Bajitpur upazila at around 9:30 pm on Wednesday (November 23). He is the son of Abdul Motaleb member of North Duljan area of Ghazirchar union of Bajitpur upazila.
RAB-14 CPC-2 Kishoreganj camp informed through a press release that a person is staying in Zahirul Islam Medical College area of Bajitpur Upazila of Sangampa district with indigenous weapons. Continuous intelligence monitoring is carried out to verify the authenticity of information. After getting the truth of the information, the RAB members conducted an operation around 9:30 pm and arrested Md. Sumon Mia from Duljan area of Gazirchar union of the upazila. At that time, 1 pipe gun and 2 rounds of cartridges in his custody were recovered and seized.
RAB-14 CPC-2 Kishoreganj Camp Company Commander Major Md. Shahriar Mahmud Khan said that during the initial interrogation, Md. Suman Mia said that he used to keep weapons with him to spread influence in the area. A case under Arms Act has been registered against Md. Suman Mia at Bajitpur police station.
