Joy Biswas (24), son of Jiban Biswas of Harijan Para area, Ward No. 10, Sadar Hospital Road, Cox's Bazar Municipality.

RAB-15 Assistant Superintendent of Police Md. Billal Uddin said that based on secret information, RAB came to know that in front of the Cox's City Supermarket in Cox's Bazar, registered SIMs were being sold illegally using other people's national identity cards.

Based on the news, the raiding team of RAB-15 verified the truth of the matter and arrested 5 people with 204 illegally registered SIM cards from the said place.

During the initial interrogation, Jai Biswas, the owner of the illegal SIM card sale, said that he used to work in a telecom operator for a long time and from there he got the idea of how to activate and use a SIM card illegally. One of his colleagues (batchmate) is currently working in a telecom company in Chittagong and he used to collect SIM cards illegally from Chittagong and send them to Joy Biswas of Cox's Bazar. And Jai Biswas used to sell them at exorbitant prices in different areas of Cox's Bazar.

In their inquiry about the process of illegal SIM card registration, they said that when a customer tried to change the SIM card to the employees (members of the circle) in the telecom company, if they showed any problem with their fingerprints, they would change the SIM card for the 2nd time with their fingerprints. Then another SIM card would be registered in the customer's name and offered for sale after keeping the customer's fingerprints for the first time in their collection.

The RAB official also said that further legal action is under process regarding the arrested accused.
