Road and High Way Department in Bogura demolished some 350 illegal structures from both sides of the road from Fulbari area via Government Mujibur Rahman College to Matidali Biman crossing on Monday.
Headed by Executive Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman Faruqui, a team of R&H demolished the unauthorised houses, shops and other establishments situated on the roads of R&H.
Ashrafuzzaman, Executive Engineer of R&H, Bogura informed some influential quarters of the district were conducting business and built residential houses by illegally occupying land belonged to R&H for a long time.
Through conducting the drive some 350 unauthorised structures were demolished through using excavators.
Earlier on Sunday, R&H demolished more than 100 illegal roadside structures at Sariakandi Upazila. He further mentioned, before conducting the demolition drive, authorities of R&H had served notices and printed advertisements in various newspapers to shift those illegal structures from the land of R&H. Even, residents and shop keepers of the areas were warned through microphones.
Earlier in 2018, Managing committee of Subil High School submitted a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Bogura requesting him to evict illegal structures from over the footpath adjacent to the school. Responding to the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, R&H conducted the demolition drive alongside of the footpath near Subil High School and freed the footpath from the grip of the illegal occupiers.
Al Razi Jewel, President of Managing Committee of Subil High School informed, students and teachers used to face hazards during walking to and from the school. With the clearing of the footpath from the illegal occupiers, passerby including students and teachers would be able to walk freely through the footpath.
The demolition drive was conducted, among others by, Maruf Afzal, Executive Magistrate, Abdul Hye, Market Inspector of Bogura Municipality and officials from district police, electric supply authority and various units of Fire Services.
