Speakers at a function in Gaibandha stressed quality education to make students as worthy citizens imbued with humanitarian virtues to take the country ahead.
They came up with the emphasis while addressing a guardians’ congregation on the premises of Uttarpara 1 No Government Primary School of the district town on Monday afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin addressed the function as the chief guest while he underscored the need for ensuring cent present enrollment of the children in schools to make the primary education a grand success.
Mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon and district primary education officer M Hossain Ali also spoke as the special guests while chairman of the school managing committee Ragib Hasan Chowdhury Habub presided over the ceremony.
Abdul Matin urged the guardians to be more active and serious about the primary education and its successful completion for their children before getting secondary and higher education to build an enlightened nation.
He also called upon the teachers to provide moral and co-curricular educations to the students so that they could be worthy citizens of the country and lead the nation towards advancement being imbued with the patriotic spirit.
Later, the DC formally distributed the prizes to the winners who participated in the annual sports competition at the arrangement of the school.
Earlier, Abdul Matin also inaugurated a ‘Bangabandhu Corner’ at the school to help the students know about the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A large number of guardians, teachers, officials, and local elite including the journalists attended the function.
