Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday urged the party leaders and workers to take preparation for the next general elections, saying that no political rival would be able to prevent Awami League's victory if its leaders and workers remain united.
"Take preparation for the next general elections from now on. None would be able to defeat Awami League, if it does not defeat itself," he told virtually the triennial conference of AL's Pabna district unit from his capital residence.
"We've to remain united . . . AL's unity is AL's main strength," said Quader.
He said conspiracies are going on both at home and abroad against the development activities of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and urged AL leaders and workers to remain alert and united against all conspiracies.
"All party leaders and workers will have to go ahead with a new challenge to face the next elections . . .
We've to work together to modernize and strengthen the party," he added.
He laid emphasis on making leaders from party's devoted leaders and workers instead of opportunity-seekers, saying that if devoted leaders and workers are not evaluated properly, the party becomes weak.
Pabna district AL acting president Md Rezaul Rahim Lal chaired the conference while AL presidium members Abdur Rahman and HM Khairuzzaman Liton, joint general secretary and information and broadcasting minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, organizing secretary SM Kamal Hossain and health and population affairs secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, among others, spoke on the occasion.
