Film producer Masudul Mahmud Ruhan reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at a residence in East Rayerbazar area of the capital on Wednesday night.
Shaon Kumar Biswas, sub-inspector (SI) of Hazaribagh Police Station, said being informed, police recovered the body of the 27-year-old Ruhan and taken it to the morgue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
He said when his roommate came back to the mess around 11 pm Wednesday he found Ruhan hanging from the ceiling fan and informed police.
The police official said Ruhan had recently undergone a divorce from his wife and started living in that East Rayerbazar mess house.
SI Shaon stated that Ruhan might have committed suicide due to depression stemming from his marital separation and other family issues. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after getting the autopsy report.
For the popular OTT platform Chorki, Ruhan produced the critically acclaimed film ‘Redram’, directed by Vicky Zahed. Their successful collaboration brought a number of well-received web series, including ‘Ararat’, ‘Champa House’, ‘Shuklapakkha’, ‘The Silence’, and ‘Punorjonmo’, the duo’s most popular fiction work.
