Pundra University to get modern laboratory for research on energy

Speakers at a seminar that electricity is the main supporting power for increasing GDP. It was necessary to invent new technology in energy and power sector to turn Bangladesh into developed country from the middle-income group country by 2041, they added.

Speaking at the seminar as the chief guest on Monday, Mohammad Samsher Ali, member of Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council, said that the research work of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Pundra University of Science and Technology, Bogura over energy and power can enrich the government. The government would finance to establish a sophisticated laboratory at the university, he said.

 The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of PUST and Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council jointly organised the seminar on renewable energy and sustainable development at the auditorium of the university in Bogura.

Presided over by Dr. AKM Azad-ud-dowla Pradhan, Vice-Chancellor of PUST, the seminar was attended, among others, by  Professor Dr. Hosne Ara Begum, Vice-Chairman of Trustee Board of PUST, Professor ANM Rezaul Karim, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of PUST, Professor Ansar Ali Talukder, and Controller of Examinations, Professor Dr. Hasanat Ali of IBA, RU as special guests while key-note paper in the seminar was presented by Professor Dr. Monjarul Alam of the department of EEE of Islami University, Kuhstia and Professor Dr. M. Aminul Islam, former Vice-Chancellor of SUST, Sylhet discussed on the topics of the key-note paper.

Engineer Ibrahim Ahmed Khan presented in detail the topics of the seminar to the guests and the students through multimedia projection. Professor Mominul Haque, Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering expressed thanks to the guests while the welcome speech of the seminar was delivered by Cesar Rahman, Head of the department of EEE.
