A demonstration by garment factory workers demanding unpaid wages has led to a blockade on both sides of the road near Kuril Bishwa Road, causing a severe traffic jam.

Since Wednesday afternoon, workers from Euro Zone Fashions Limited, situated on Twin Road in Zoar Sahara, have been staging the protest, halting traffic flow from Kuril to Natunbazar-Badda. The congestion has also spilled over onto Airport Road.

Confirmation of the situation was provided by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam of Bhatara Police Station.

The disgruntled workers voiced their frustration over months of unpaid wages, expressing their determination to continue the protest until their demands are met.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Momen of the Traffic Division assured efforts to swiftly clear the congestion caused by the garment workers' blockade. Traffic officials are working diligently to restore normalcy to the affected roads.

This protest follows a similar demonstration on May 4 when workers protested the abrupt closure of Neparel Garments Limited in Banani. The ensuing roadblock caused extensive traffic disruptions from Mahakhali to the airport, inconveniencing commuters. Though the blockade eventually ended, the workers remain steadfast in their pursuit of resolution with the factory owners.
