Aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational base centrally and also at the root level, ruling Bangladesh Awami League has taken a bunch of programmes from different angles to make the party stronger than ever.
As part of the programmes, the high-command of the party has instructed to form full-fledged committees of different units of the party and its various front organisations as well as its associate bodies, which have already completed their councils recently, within two weeks.
Besides, those units and associate bodies in the division, district and root levels yet could not hold their councils have also been asked to arrange their councils as soon as possible. In this regard, leaders concerned have been asked to launch organisational tours across the country with a view to completing full-fledged committees in the district level.
Sources in the party said, after holding the central council of the party on December 20 and 21 and the elections to two city corporations in capital Dhaka, the initiative has been taken to make the party more active organisationally.
Awami League president Sheikh Hasina, also the Prime Minister, has directed the party leaders to remain active for strengthening its organisational capacity.
Following her directive, party’s general secretary Obaidul Quader, also the Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, also has asked the presidents and general secretaries of different units of the party and associate organisations to form full- fledged committees within two weeks.
In this regard, some of the leaders have been served letters in written while the others have been asked verbally over phone to do their jobs.
Awami League sources said, the party will also launch a programme for collecting members in the union and village levels for the party in the month of March this year.
The party sources also said that party’s joint secretary Hassan Mahmood, also the Minister for Information, and organisation secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan already have completed the representative conference of Rangpur division.
Accordingly, decisions to hold other divisional meetings have also been taken.
