Khulna district administration has taken elaborate programmes to observe “Amar Ekushey” on February 21in a befitting manner.
People in all walks of life and organizations will be allowed to go to the Shaheed Minar premises to pay tributes in memory of the Language Heroes.
In Khulna city, the observance will begin at one minute past after 12 midnight on February 20 when Land Minister Naryan Chandra Chanda, will place wreaths at the Shaheed Minar in City’s Shaheed Hadis Park to pay due respect to the Language Martyrs.
Later, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Khulna Divisional Commissioner, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner (KMP), Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police of Khulna Range will place wreaths there.
Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Khondokar Yasir Arefin along with officials of the district and upazila administrations will also place floral wreaths there to be followed by other government and non-government departments and organizations.
The other programmes of the day include hoisting of national flag at half-mast atop of all buildings, educational institutions, decoration of the streets with miniature national and coloured flags inscribed with Bengalialphabets.
Besides, competitions for the children on drawing, essay writing, rendering patriotic songs and sports competitions for the school students will be arranged by Khulna City Corporation.
A discussion meeting followed by cultural programme will be held in the evening at the Hadis Park.
The district Information Office will also screen mobile cinema and showcase posters on the day.
The decision was made at a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner (DC)’s office with DC Khondokar Yasir Arefin in the chair here today. Superintendent of Khulna district Police Mohammad Sayeedur Rahman, deputy director of local Government of Khulna DC office Md Yousuf Ali, additional district magistrate Md Nazmul Hossain, among others, were present.
