Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) on Tuesday signed an agreement with the 'Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program' (SISIP), under the Ministry of Finance, aiming to develop more 10,000 skilled manpower for the country's emerging housing industry.
The agreement was signed in a ceremony, held at the project office of SISIP at Probashi Kalyan Bhaban, Eskaton Garden in the capital.
Executive Project Director of SISIP, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Md. Walid Hossain and REHAB President Mohammad Wahidujjaman signed the agreement on behalf of the respective organisations. Senior officials of SISIP and REHAB office bearers concerned were present on the occasion.
Addressing on the occasion, REHAB President Wahidujjaman said earlier REHAB had trained around 21,000 construction workers successfully through its training institutes in different parts of the country. 90 percent of them are now working at different developer companies at home and abroad and contributing to the country's economy.
SISIP Project Director Mohamad Walid Hossain said the quality of REHAB's training is satisfactory, they have trained around 21,000 construction workers earlier, among them female workers were remarkable.
He hoped that this training program of REHAB will contribute significantly in the higher level training for construction sector in the future. REHAB officials said this training is organised totally free of costs at the same time all the trainees are provided with allowances.They said higher level training will be provided in four trades that include Electric Installation and Maintenance, Plumbing and Pipe Fittings, Machinery and Steel Binding and Tiles and Marble Works.
This will be a four months training program while the trainees will be given job opportunity at home and abroad.
