Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman took over the office as the vice chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University (DU) on Monday.
President and Chancellor, Abdul Hamid appointed him as VC of DU for the next four years according to the section 11(1) of Dhaka University Ordinance 1973, said a DU release. It is to be noted that Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman is a professor of History and Culture department at University of Dhaka.
While joining the office, Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman said that in order to improve the position of Dhaka University in the international rankings, everyone has to work with integrity and sincerity. He emphasized on ensuring honesty, transparency and accountability everywhere in order to manage academic and administrative affairs. He said that all should work together to accelerate the quality education and research activities of the university.
Pro Vice-Chancellor (administration) Professor Dr Muhammad Samad, Dhaka University Teachers' Association Professor ASM Maqsood Kamal, General Secretary Professor Shibali Rubaiyatul Islam, Senate Member SM Bahaulul Majun, Registrar Md Enamuzzaman, Director of Public Relations Office Mahmud Alam, Dean of various faculties, Provost of different halls, Chairman and teachers of various departments and senior officials of the University were also present at the occassion.
