Dr Md. Shamsul Alam, a renowned Islamic scholar and a professor of the Department of Islamic Studies at Dhaka University; has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Islamic Arabic University (IAU) for the next four years.
A gazette notification, signed by Md Shahinur Islam, a deputy secretary at the Secondary and Higher Secondary Division of the Ministry of Education, was issued in this regard on Thursday.
The DU teacher was appointed IAU VC upon approval by the President and Chancellor of the university following Section-11 (1) of Islamic Arabic University Act, 2013.
Professor Dr Md. Shamsul Alam has been serving as the provost of Sheikh Muji
bur Rahman Hall of Dhaka University.
He was the chairman of the Department of Islamic Studies of the university. He also served as a house tutor at Salimullah Muslim Hall of the university.
