Professor Md Nurul Alam of Physics department has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University.
A gazette notification was issued by the education ministry on Tuesday in this regard. President Md. Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the universitiy, appointed him to the post for the next four years as per the Jahangirnagar University Act 1973, the notifications said.
After taking the charge of the vice-chancellor, the newly appointed VC while addressing a ceremony at the conference room of the new admin building at about 4:45pm, said, ‘I will work for the betterment of education and research and I need cooperation from all the stakeholders of the university.’
Nurul Alam was made acting vice-chancellor of the university on March 1, 2022, and later provisionally appointed on the post on April 17, 2022. He has served the university as pro-vice-chancellor for academic affairs, president of JU Teachers' Association, dean of physical and mathematical sciences faculty, hall provost etc.
